As Coil, Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson and Geff Rushton (aka ‘John Balance’) worked with Neo-Pagan, Outsider, and Queer strategies at the crossroads of a variety of Counter-Cultures for over two decades.
Having befriended Geff when they were both still only in their teens, Matthew Levi Stevens found himself with a ringside seat to the beginnings of Psychic TV and Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth – and then, of course, Coil.
Tonight he will be sharing memories from over a decade’s intimate friendship with the duo, against a backdrop of the Post-Industrial scene, London Occulture, Acid House, and more, and through a heady mix of sex ‘n’ drugs, magick ‘n’ music.
Matthew Levi Stevens is the author of The Magical Universe of William S. Burroughs (Mandrake of Oxford, 2014) and various related texts, as well as a range of print and online articles for Beatdom, FANEmag, The Fenris Wolf 12, Furfur, Reality Sandwich, Soft Need 23, and others. He has also spoken at The Last Tuesday Society, The Occult Conference (Glastonbury), The Atlantis Bookshop, Treadwells, and The Horse Hospital.”
