THE HISTORY OF SPIRIT PHOTOGRAPHY
    WITH GORDON RUTTER

15th April 2010
Doors at 6 pm, Talk commences at 7 pm

Photography and organised spiritualism were born around the same time and consequently their history is intertwined. From the desire to talk to the dead there soon arose the need for photographs of spirits. Initially this began with photographs of the recently departed, but soon enough there was a desire to step beyond that. From the earliest spirit photographs of William Mumler and others through to the latest orbs the subject is still rich in controversy and unwritten histories. Join Gordon as he unravels the mysteries of the history behind spirit photography.

"It is true, the spoken word enlightens both the spirit and the soul.  Indeed, the HENDRICK’S Master Distiller can often be heard talking at length to her ‘two little sweeties’ – the delightful and peculiarly small copper pot stills from which the most unusual gin flows."
